These rich, no-bake treats combine crunchy peanut butter pretzels, Oreos, and white chocolate for a sweet-and-salty snack that looks like lumps of coal—perfect for a miner-themed party, holiday treat, or easy dessert.
Prep time: 25 minutes
Chill time: 30 minutes
Makes: About 50–60 pieces
Ingredients
-
24 oz peanut butter filled pretzels
-
24 oz white chocolate chips
-
2/3 cup powdered sugar
-
1 (13 oz) package Oreo cookies
-
Optional additions:
-
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
-
Instructions
-
Prepare the pans:
Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats. -
Crush the pretzels and Oreos:
In a food processor, pulse the peanut butter pretzels and Oreos (whole, filling included) until broken into small chunks. You want a mixture of fine crumbs and some small pieces for texture.
No food processor? Place pretzels and Oreos in a large zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin. -
Combine with powdered sugar:
Pour the crushed mixture into a large bowl. Sift in the powdered sugar and stir until evenly mixed. -
Melt the white chocolate:
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each, until smooth.
Optional: Stir 1/2 cup peanut butter into the melted chocolate for extra peanut flavor. -
Mix everything together:
Pour the melted white chocolate over the dry mixture. Stir thoroughly until everything is evenly coated and clumps begin to form. -
Form the bites:
Scoop tablespoon-sized portions and roll lightly into rough, lumpy “coal” shapes. Place them on the prepared baking sheets. -
Chill to set:
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until firm. -
Store:
Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 2 months.
Tips:
-
For extra-salty crunch, sprinkle each bite with a tiny pinch of coarse sea salt before chilling.
-
If the mixture feels too dry to hold together, add another 1/4 cup melted white chocolate or a spoonful of peanut butter.
-
For a darker “coal” look, use dark chocolate or add black food coloring to the melted white chocolate (gel works best).
-
Great for themed parties, holiday goodie bags, or as a fun lunchbox treat.
These easy, addictive bites are always a hit—sweet, salty, crunchy, and totally irresistible!
